Beginnings

First and foremost, I am terrible at blogs. I have often started one and been gung-ho only to forget of its sheer existence in three weeks. Still, the urge to record my existence sticks with me. Someday I want to share pictures of my children and all the cute artwork they do, although that requires me to reproduce first. We will see.

I also really like space (and cats)! I get shivers when I look at the pictures from Curiosity because although Mars is stupendously boring, it still blows my mind that I'm looking at another planet. From a robot that we shot into space for two entire years, which landed perfectly. Sometimes human intelligence really astounds me. Of course, the human capacity to be an idiot also astounds me.

That is another PLANET! It looks a lot like our planet, but still. It's really cool. What really and truly gets me about space, though, is the stuff we can't yet get pictures of. The size of Jupiter, of the Sun. The vast distances that are involved. All the things we don't know. Is there life? One of my favorite things to ponder about space is the wonderful quote from Sir Arthur C. Clarke, which is what I will leave you with today...

Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.
